Project Goals

This project proposes to bring the insights of the successful calculus reform movement and calculus-based physics reform efforts to reform algebra-based physics. It aims at the transformation of algebra-based physics courses by a five-fold approach including:

  1. Interesting and exciting human-functioning applications
  2. Interactive, inquiry-oriented pedagogy used to shape the instructional activities
  3. Application of the XRAYS problem-solving strategy
  4. Multimedia materials used to provide a variety of learning experiences
  5. Mathematical modeling integrated into every physics module
